Liverpool's long running chase of RB Leipzig's Ivorian winger Yan Diomande appears to be proven fruitless as the 19-year-old appears to have chosen the current European Champions as his preferred destination - should he turn down a contract extension offered from the German side.

Despite being open to a move to Anfield, Diomande is said to drawn to PSG's long term plans under their Qatari owners, as well as working under Luis Enrique, and sees PSG as his best chance to win more trophies, and ultimately win the Ballon D'or according to David Ornstein (The Athletic)

The transfer market rarely respects a gentleman's agreement, and the current atmosphere surrounding Marco Palestra perfectly illustrates the fragile nature of these negotiations. Inter Milan have spent weeks attempting to carefully construct a €50m deal for Atalanta’s young defender, only to find the landscape abruptly altered by Chelsea's late arrival. This sudden disruption has reopened the market, alerting other Premier League clubs to a developing opportunity. Liverpool have been offered the 21-year-old Italian international, though there is no evidence of a formal bid or advanced negotiations.

Liverpool will have to dig deep into their pockets to sign a highly sought-after winger. Yann Diomandé has been on the Reds’ radar for some time, with the RB Leipzig attacker currently signed with the German club until June 30, 2030.

Liverpool appear to be in pole position to sign the young Ivorian, who has quickly risen through the ranks to become a hot commodity. The 2024-25 Premier League champions might be in a race with the club that knocked them out of the last two Champions League tournaments, Paris Saint-Germain for Diomandé. The latest reports suggest that Andoni Iraola’s men want him desperately.
