Liverpool will have to dig deep into their pockets to sign a highly sought-after winger. Yann Diomandé has been on the Reds’ radar for some time, with the RB Leipzig attacker currently signed with the German club until June 30, 2030.
Liverpool appear to be in pole position to sign the young Ivorian, who has quickly risen through the ranks to become a hot commodity. The 2024-25 Premier League champions might be in a race with the club that knocked them out of the last two Champions League tournaments, Paris Saint-Germain for Diomandé. The latest reports suggest that Andoni Iraola’s men want him desperately.

Clearly, the Reds value Yann Diomandé and are willing to show the German side exactly how much. David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that Liverpool are intensifying their pursuit of the 19-year-old and are happy to pay a fee of up to €100 million if need be. According to Ornstein, the club is studying other options in addition to that to entice the teenager to come to Merseyside. PSG are still contenders to add him to their squad, but it sounds like the Reds still hold the upper hand.
For now, it seems that Leipzig aren’t ready to part ways with the Ivorian unless a substantial fee is offered to them. The belief is that it may take an offer in excess of €130 million for the German club to give in finally. Diomandé shone in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 12 times with nine assists in 33 domestic appearances. His contributions enabled his side to finish third in the table and qualify for the upcoming Champions League.
Proving Value in the Americas

If you need proof that Diomandé can handle the big stage, look no further than what he showed in the Ivory Coast’s opening match at the World Cup. The youngster was instrumental out wide for his side against Ecuador, creating numerous chances, including one big chance, in their narrow 1-0 triumph.
He was strong in his take-ons, won 73.3% of his duels and had 80 touches as he went the full 90 minutes in that match. Diomandé wasn’t only sharp on the ball, though; his defensive contributions were massive. He had five tackles and another five recoveries while also winning one possession in the final third.
If you examine his body of work, it’s no surprise to learn that Liverpool are seemingly going all in to convince him to put pen to paper. It may require The Reds to spend a little more money than they’d like, but the payoff could be massive in the long run.
