Liverpool summer transfer signings projected grades
by Jimmy Johnson

Liverpool’s 2025 summer transfer window will go down in history. The Reds smashed transfer record after transfer record to send a message out to all the other title contenders in the Premier League.
World-class talents such as Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak have arrived at the club, but how will they perform on the field? After all, football isn’t played on paper.
We’ll predict the seasonal performance of each of Liverpool’s summer signings and grade them accordingly. Please note that, of course, this piece is purely speculative.
Hugo Ekitike - A-
We gave Hugo Ekitike an A- based on one simple factor - he isn’t Alexander Isak! Unless Arne Slot opts to play a two-striker formation, Ekitike could prove to be a very expensive benchwarmer.
With that being said, his first few games for the Reds have demonstrated his talents. Possessing excellent movement off the ball and a keen eye for goal, Liverpool are now blessed with an excellent deputy to their marquee purchase.

Milos Kerkez - B
After a somewhat shaky start in his debut game against Bournemouth, Milos Kerkez has begun to settle into his role as Liverpool’s new first-choice left-back.
Replacing Andy Robertson was never going to be easy, given Liverpool fans’ affinity towards the Scottish international. Nevertheless, we’re sure that the battling spirit that Kerkez possesses will help him win over the hearts of the Kop sooner, rather than later.
Giovanni Leoni - B
Liverpool may have got their hands on a real gem here. Giovanni Leoni has been touted by many as the long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, as the Dutchman nears the end of his career.
Of course, this remains to be seen - as such, we can’t give Leoni anything higher than a B grade. Don’t be surprised if he develops into a genuinely world class talent, though.
Freddie Woodman - C
It’s hard to grade Freddie Woodman because it’s unlikely he’ll ever play in a meaningful game - with Alisson and Marmadashvili ahead of him, he won’t be featuring in the starting XI outside of an injury crisis.
With that being said, Woodman is a capable goalkeeper with plenty of EFL pedigree to his name. His ultimate purpose is to help meet Premier League squad registration requirements, whilst also being able to perform a solid job if called upon.

Florian Wirtz - A-
Florian Wirtz is adapting to the Premier League slower than some may have expected, but there is little doubt that a player of his quality will be able to do so in time.
Fantastic on the ball with a keen eye for a defence-splitting pass, Wirtz will be a force to be reckoned with once he develops an understanding with the Reds’ forwards.

Jeremie Frimpong - A
The departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold left a bad taste in many people’s mouths, but it has been sweetened by the arrival of Jeremie Frimpong - in many ways, Frimpong is an upgrade over the new Real Madrid man.
He is a different kind of wing-back to Alexander-Arnold - where TAA excelled with long-range passes from deep positions, Frimpong is more of a dynamic runner. He is brilliant at worrying defenders and making lightning-fast overlapping runs, which will work to his benefit while playing behind Mohamed Salah.
Alexander Isak - A+
Perhaps we’re jumping the gun on this one, but it is hard to envision a world in which Alexander Isak does not become a roaring success at Liverpool.
He has everything you could want in a modern striker, being technically proficient, extremely quick and composed in front of goal. The only caveat we can think of is his injury record - if the Swede can stay on the pitch, he will score goals.
Alexander Isak outlined his desire to experience ‘amazing moments’ as a Liverpool player after completing a deadline-day transfer to the Reds 💪
