BREAKING: Robertson Advancing in Spurs Talks

By Steven Northover

Tottenham Hotspur seem increasingly likely to sign legendary left back Andrew Robertson this window according to The Athletic.
The north London side, currently in 14th, were initially keen on signing the Scottish Captain in the Summer on a free, however appear to have bought plans forward.

It has been an open secret for some time that Robertson's time at Liverpool was coming end, certainly since the signing of Milos Kerkez, however the two time Premier League Champion has been open to remaining at Anfield beyond his current contract - which expires at the end of this season - with his only stipulation that he starts more.

However, with that seemingly unlikely, with an exit this window now seemingly inevitable if an agreement can be made between all three parties.

Joining from Hull in 2017, Robertson formed a formidable partnership with Trent Alexander-Arnold on the opposite side of defence, making a record total of 60 assists, the most for any Left Back in the Premier League.
Aside from his two Premier League titles, he has won the Champions League, the FA Cup, and League Cup, and is rightly seen as one of the club's greatest ever players.
However, as an almost every present for Liverpool in his early career, injuries and durability have seemingly caught up with the 31-year-old, having only started four times in the league this season, and perhaps now seems like the right time for the defender to blow out from under the Anfield lights.

Greek Scouser Return?

The good news is that Liverpool will not need to go looking far for a replacement. Kostas Tsimikas remains on loan at Roma, having started 11 games for I Giallorossi, and would likely be open to a return to Liverpool - despite his current side 4th in Serie A, and likely to qualify for the knockout stages of the Europa League.

Unlike other loanees this season, notably Harvey Elliott, Roma are under no obligation to buy the 29-year-old - so would not be required to pay any release fee, if Tsimikas was returned to Liverpool.

Whatever happens, it looks like Andy Robertson's career at Liverpool is coming to an end - his
place amongst the pantheon of “Great Scots” at the club long but guaranteed.
