Reds "Confident" in Konate Contract Renewal

Speculation has swirled in recent weeks linking the French international with a potential move to Real Madrid upon the expiration of his contract in the summer. The rumours have unsettled some Liverpool fans, particularly with the sting of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s departure to the Spanish capital still fresh.

Many supporters are eager to see Konaté committed to a new long-term deal as soon as possible.

Although Konaté’s start to the current season has been somewhat lacklustre compared to the Frenchman’s normal high standards, Liverpool’s hierarchy remains determined to secure his future.

According to L’Équipe, there is no agreement in place yet, but confidence within Anfield remains high. The club’s patient approach mirrors the one used in successful contract renewals for Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah last year.

Speculation surrounding Konaté's future has grown as he enters the final year of his current contract

Liverpool Aim to Secure Konaté's Future

Talks were said to be close to completion as far back as last October, when reliable sources such as Fabrizio Romano revealed that negotiations were progressing well; however, talks stalled and eventually halted towards the end of the season.

Konaté is viewed as an integral part of Liverpool’s long-term project and is said to be highly valued by manager Arne Slot.

The 26-year-old centre-back joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2021 for a fee of around £32 million. Since then, he has made 148 appearances for the club, scoring six goals and lifting the Premier League, FA Cup, two League Cups, and the Community Shield.
