March proved to be a defining month for Liverpool, as they built on earlier signs of improvement and turned performances into crucial results. After a mixed spell leading into the international break, the Reds returned with renewed focus, climbing to 10th in the table and creating breathing space in the relegation battle. Alongside their league progress, confidence continued to grow following their advancement to the FA Cup quarterfinals, setting up an important run-in to the end of the season.
Up to 10th:
Liverpool climbed to 10th place with an important 2-0 win over Leicester City. It was an impressive response, especially after losing the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Beata Olsson gave the Reds an early lead, and Ceri Holland sealed the victory with a late penalty, completing a confident and controlled performance.
Goalless Draw Away:
Liverpool picked up an important point on the road in a 0-0 draw against Brighton. While neither side will have been fully satisfied, the result helped extend the gap between Liverpool and the bottom of the table, an important step in their fight for survival.
First Away League Win:
Liverpool secured their first away league win of the season with a dramatic 3-2 victory over Everton. A dominant first half saw the Reds take a 3-0 lead through a Ceri Holland penalty, a Martina Fernandez own goal, and Holland’s second in the 41st minute. However, the match turned in the second half. Aurora Galli pulled one back in the 64th minute, and just a minute later Grace Fisk was sent off, shifting momentum. Zara Kramzar added a stoppage-time goal, but Liverpool held on under pressure to secure a vital three points.
Final Two Months:
Liverpool come out of March in a far stronger position, with results finally matching their improving performances. Sitting 10th and with a growing gap to the bottom, the Reds have given themselves a real chance of survival heading into the final stretch.
Attention now turns to a big FA Cup quarter-final against Charlton Athletic on Easter Sunday, before focus shifts back to the league. A crucial clash with West Ham United could prove decisive in the relegation fight, followed by tough tests against Manchester City and Arsenal to close the season.
With momentum building and belief returning, Liverpool will feel they have the platform to finish the campaign strongly and secure their top-flight status.
