Dominik Szoboszlai’s Agent Sets the Record Straight on Real Madrid Stance

Dominik Szoboszlai has been linked with a move away from Liverpool throughout this season, with Real Madrid particularly showing interest. The Hungarian’s agent, though, has shed some light on the persistent rumours.

Mátyás Esterházy, a former player himself playing in Hungary, represents the midfielder.

“It’s completely normal for the public, when Dominik is performing like this, to talk about what’s next and if there’s something higher,” Esterházy said when speaking to Hungarian news outlet NB1.

However, with that seemingly unlikely, with an exit this window now seemingly inevitable if an agreement can be made between all three parties.

"For us, it’s not a topic. We are mid-season; he has a lot of work ahead of him in the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Champions League. He has said many times how important this competition is for him.”

Esterházy added when talking to NB1, “Liverpool are one of the biggest clubs in the world, and Dominik is in a position within the team that has a lot of reserve, so we are not looking outside or elsewhere.”

Still, rumours abound, starting with Hungary National Team boss Marco Rossi. When speaking to Madrid outlet Marca, Rossi said Real Madrid was Szoboszlai’s “dream” club.

As always, social media only fuels the flames. With many comments on Szoboszlai’s recent Instagram posts stating that the midfielder should move to Madrid.

According to Opta, Szoboszlai has a highly impressive 88% pass completion rate, and a heat that spans across the pitch. This concludes that not only is he lethal on the ball, but he is also vital to Liverpool’s press.

Szoboszlai has played in all but two of Liverpool’s matches this season in the Premier League. He has been praised for his ability to play in midfield and as a right back this season.

Alan Shearer told Tribuna “He’s (Szoboszlai) had to fill in at right back as well this season, hasn’t he? He’s a really good player, he’s got a great engine.”

The Hungarian midfielder signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2023 and has won a Premier League title in his time at the club. This is in addition to a League Cup he won in Jurgen Klopp’s final year in charge.

While rumours speculate, there are still many games to go this season, and a long while before the transfer window opens. With Szoboszlai's contract not set to expire till 2028, a move still seems unlikely for him.
