Liverpool Women travel to face Brighton in the Women's Super League this Sunday at 12pm (GMT). Following a 2-0 victory over Leicester City, Gareth Taylor's side arrives with renewed momentum, looking to string together consecutive league wins. For Brighton, it is a chance to halt a recent slide in form, setting the stage for a compelling clash.

Both clubs have been forced to confront the challenge of losing key players to the Asia Cup. Liverpool, however, sense an opportunity. Taylor has acknowledged that Brighton are within their sights, and a victory would drag the hosts back into the chasing pack as Liverpool aim to climb the league table. Brighton, meanwhile, desperately need a positive result to stabilise their campaign.

Recent Form:

The visitors arrive in increasingly confident form. Liverpool defeated Leicester 2-0 last weekend and have led for 189 minutes across their last three league fixtures-a stark improvement from leading just 105 minutes in their first 14 games. They are controlling matches better and generating more threat from set- pieces. Conversely, Dario Vidosic's Brighton are experiencing a difficult period, having lost three of their last four WSL matches, including back-to- back home defeats, after previously losing just two in 14.

Head-to-Head Record:

Liverpool hold a commanding recent record in this fixture. They are unbeaten in their last seven WSL meetings against the Seagulls, registering five wins and two draws. This includes a strong away record, having won three of their previous five trips to Brighton, including a 1-0 victory in the 2023-24 campaign.

Team news:

Liverpool welcome back Denise O'Sullivan to bolster their midfield options, while Alice Bergstrom has returned to training and will travel with the squad. However, they will be without Lucy Parry, who sustained injuries against Leicester, meaning Gemma Bonner could retain her place in the side. Japanese duo Fuka Nagano and Risa Shimizu remain unavailable due to international duties after they won the Asian Cup yesterday. Brighton face similar absences, though their precise team news remains guarded ahead of the weekend.

Key Players To Watch:

For Liverpool, striker Beata Olsson is essential; all six of her league goals this season have either equalised or put her side ahead. In midfield, Ceri Holland's physical intensity and set-piece delivery will be vital.

Brighton will rely heavily on goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, who boasts 50 saves this season. Going forward, Fran Kirby remains a persistent threat, having registered 11 goal involvements against Liverpool in her career.

Tactical Overview:

Gareth Taylor has emphasised Liverpool's growing ability to control matches and progress the ball into the final third. Their increased reliance on set-piece situations will be tested, however, as Brighton have yet to concede from a corner in the WSL this season. Under Vidosic, Brighton maintain a highly consistent tactical identity, preferring structured build-up play and a coordinated press, which Taylor expects will directly challenge his side's preferred rhythm.

Key Battle(s):

The defining clash may well occur at set-pieces. Liverpool's recent success has been built on Holland's excellent dead- ball delivery and an increased attacking threat in the penalty area. They will directly confront Brighton's flawless record of defending corners, marshalled by the commanding Nnadozie.

With Liverpool finding consistency and asserting more dominance in matches, they appear well-positioned to exploit Brighton's current defensive frailties at home. If the visitors can navigate Brighton's pressing traps, their momentum and historical dominance in this fixture point toward a narrow away victory.

Prediction:

2-1 Liverpool
