Burnley v Liverpool: Injury update as two could miss out

by Jimmy Johnson

The international break has now concluded with players returning to their respective club teams. Sadly, not all of Liverpool’s players have returned with a clean bill of health.

Liverpool will take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday. The Reds have won three out of three Premier League games thus far - can they keep their winning record alive against the Clarets?

Scott Parker's men have injury problems of their own with four members of their senior team potentially missing out on the game at the weekend.

Zeki Amdouni and Manuel Benson have been ruled out, while Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer are considered serious doubts.

Jeremie Frimpong

Jeremie Frimpong missed Liverpool’s previous two league games on the sidelines with a hamstring issue.

However, according to  The Athletic, the right-back returned to full training on Wednesday. As such, he should be fit to play on Sunday.

But with Dominik Szoboszlai doing such a stellar job in the Dutchman's absence, will Arne Slot be willing to remove him from his position?

Eventually, Frimpong will regain his spot as Liverpool’s first-choice right-back, but it may not be quite so soon given the circumstances.

Ibrahima Konate

Konate was forced off the pitch with a leg injury in the latter stages of Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 victory against Arsenal in their most recent Premier League encounter.

Despite this, he travelled with the France squad and featured in the full 90 minutes against Iceland, where Les Bleus won by a score of 2-1.

Therefore, it’s safe to assume that the centre-back will be available for selection on Sunday afternoon.
