Connor Bradley to Miss Rest of Season!

By Steve Northover

Connor Bradley’s continuing bad luck with injuries continues, as it was announced that he will sit out the remainder of the season with serious injury.  The Irishman was injured late into Liverpool's 0-0 draw with League leaders Arsenal during the week, and joins Alexander Isak on Liverpool’s long term injury list. The incident was made worse when Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli threw a ball at the defender, then appeared to attempt to drag him from the pitch, an incident the Brazilian later apologised for.

Despite being only 22, this is the seventh injury since he made his debut in 2021, and the third time this season he has found himself sidelined by injuries. On top of this, the injury referred to as an ‘injury to bone and ligament’ is by far the most severe so far, ultimately requiring surgery. It's a bitter blow for the young Irishman, who had started to make the RB berth his own - starting in twelve games this season.

By missing out on the rest of the season, he will also miss out on Northern Ireland’s crunch playoff against Italy - and should his national side be successful, miss Northern Ireland’s first World Cup appearance in forty years.

Enter Liverpool's Forgotten Man?

This season Arne Slot has often asked Joe Gomez to fill in at Right Back when required. There is also a chance that either Dominik Szoboszlai or Curtis Jones could also deputise for Frimpong.

However there is another option.

With Liverpool seemingly unlikely to enter the transfer market this January, this could represent a prime opportunity for Calvin Ramsey, who spent last season on loan at Kilmarnock in the SPL, to stake a claim for the RB position.  The Red’s next game is against Barnsley in the FA Cup on Monday, so it might be the right time for the 22-year-old, who was on loan at SPL side Kilmarnock last season, to make his first start in over three years.

Whatever does happen, it means that Liverpool have been dealt yet another injury blow in a season that has been marred by a number of injuries to crucial players - notably Alexander Isak. The rest now will be to see if the Reds are able to continue their good form, despite Bradley’s
