Wolves vs. Liverpool: The Big Match Preview

By Will Phillips

Following the 5-2 demolition of West Ham at Anfield, Slot’s men travel to the Midlands to play relegation-fighting Wolves.  If Liverpool wins this game, and results elsewhere go their way, the club can rise as high as third in the table.

Match Preview

Liverpool is firing on all cylinders as they seek their fourth consecutive win. The Reds' last loss came against Manchester City at the start of the month; following this, though, Slot’s team has been on fine form.

Scoring five times against West Ham, with Hugo Ekitike putting in another electric performance, they go into this match with every chance of taking all three points back to Liverpool from the bottom-placed team, Wolves.

The Midlands side has not been able to get a result against Liverpool since 2023, where they won by 3-0. The two sides most recently faced each other at the end of last year, where Liverpool got a 2-1 result at Anfield.

Wolves have been improving slowly, though, picking up ten of their thirteen points in the New Year following an abysmal period of form during the first half of the season. And lately, they are looking like a force to be reckoned with at Molineux. 4 points in the last two games there.

A win against Liverpool may be enough to turn a corner for the Wanderers as they look to make one final push to stay in the Premier League.

Team News

Florian Wirtz is reportedly still suffering with a back issue he felt during preparations for the game against Nottingham Forest, it is unlikely he will feature against Wolves, possibly not being ready for the game against them in the FA Cup on Friday.

Isak, Leoni, Endo, Bradley, and Bajcetic continue to be unavailable after picking up long-term injuries earlier in the season.

Wolves on the other hand has a fully fit squad to play against Liverpool.

Predicted XI

Wolves: Sa, Mosquera, Bueno, Toti Gomes, Tchatchoua, Andre, João Gomes, Bueno, Bellegarde, Rodrigo Gomes, Armstrong

Liverpool: Allison, Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Jones, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Salah, Gakpo, Ekitike

Prediction: Wolves 0-3 Liverpool

Wolves whilst improving, do not have the same level of quality as Liverpool. Rob Edwards will have to hope the atmosphere is good enough by the home fans to prevent an onslaught from the Reds.
