Salah to Al-Ittihad Talks Begin - Media Watch
By Rajes Anbalagan
Saudi Pro League giants Al-Ittihad have opened talks to sign Mohamed Salah this summer, according to Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna. Although he’s received interest from Saudi Arabia many times before, this time it may actually follow through to the Egyptian King’s departure.
Reign Coming to an End?

Mo’s legacy at Liverpool is legendary, to say the least, but his future has been in doubt ever since his blow-up with manager Arne Slot before his stint at the Africa Cup of Nations, "The Club Has Thrown Me Under The Bus". Despite regaining his starter status at the club, the winger is allegedly still dissatisfied at the club, considering a new challenge at the end of the season. A hefty pay raise and ability to easily adapt to the local culture may seem appealing to Salah, while his string of subpar performances and forgoing his already-high wage bill could be appealing to the club’s higher-ups, making this move all the more possible.
The Reluctant Benefits

This isn’t the first time the player has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League club, with Liverpool rejecting a £150m offer. It turned out to be the right decision then, with Salah being instrumental in our Premier League-winning 2024/2025 season. However, now could be the right time to sell the 33-year-old. Recently, Dominik Szoboszlai, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike have been instrumental in the the team’s attack. Would they perform even better if given the opportunity to lead the charge? With only one more year left on his contract, would it make sense to make some money off the player while we can, instead of repeating the Alexander-Arnold situation?

Al-Ittihad would more than welcome the Egypt star, especially after losing two of their top stars in Karim Benzema and N'Golo Kanté. A big name like Salah, who is already loved by local fans, would not only boost their on-field performances but their commercial business too.
However, at the end of the day, it would be up to Salah, who I believe would be given the reigns in making this decision, given his status at the club. What’s Salah going to do?
