Following Liverpool's troubling loss to Aston Villa on Friday, Mohammed Salah took to social media to express his concerns about the direction the club appears to be going. Although not directly referencing anyone in particular, Salah also stated that he felt that Liverpool needed to return to the high intensity, heavy metal football Liverpool had played under Jürgen Klopp.

“I’ve seen Liverpool go from doubters to believers, and from believers to champions. Being part of that journey and helping bring success back to this club is something I’ll always be proud of."
“This season’s struggles and repeated setbacks have been painful, especially because the fans deserve far better than what we’ve shown.”
“Liverpool should be feared again. The aggressive, attacking “heavy metal” football that brought success to this club is the identity that must return — and it cannot be compromised. Everyone who comes to this club should adapt to those standards.”
Squad Vocal in Support
His comments were met with broad suppprt, most notably from within the Liverpool squad - with Harvey Elliot, Dominik Szoboszlai, Jeremie Frimpong, and Curtis Jones reacting immediately.
Jones also apologised to supporters for this season’s performances on his X account - "Thank you for your continued support in a disappointing season. It’s way off the standards expected at this football club.
It's worth noting that with Salah leaving in the summer, Jones has also been consistently linked with his own move away from Anfield.
On top of this, Andy Robertson is likely to leave for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer - with rumours that Allison Becker is rumoured to leave the club in the summer, perhaps we are about to see a trend of Liverpool players ‘’speaking their mind'?
Whatever happens, it appears the growing unease at the direction of the club amongst the supporters is seemingly shared (at least in part) with the first team - so is it time for the board to take note? Up until now, the club has steadfastly supported Arne Slot, despite indifferent performances and a distinct decline in quality compared to last season. However they cannot have failed to note the increasing frustration from the fans over continuing poor form, tactical deficiencies (especially when Liverpool go behind), and a general malaise that appears to have entered Liverpool's performances on recent games - especially if the players are talking about it.
