Liverpool travel to the Parc de Princes for the first leg of their quarter final tie against European Champions PSG. With a lot at stake in this game, the Reds will look to gain advantage going into the 2nd leg at Anfield next Tuesday.

A repeat of last year’s round of 16 tie, Liverpool will look to better their previous result against the Parisians and advance to the semi finals, facing either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, potentially looking to lift the prestigious trophy for a 7th time in their history.

Recent Form

The lesser said about the last 2 games for Liverpool the better, with Man City running rings around them dumping them out the FA Cup on Saturday and Brighton taking all 3 points prior to the international break, It's now or never for Arne Slot to turn things around in hopes to try and save Liverpool’s season.

PSG are in pole position for their 5th consecutive title in Ligue 1, whilst also gaining lots of confidence from beating Liverpool’s counterparts Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate. PSG are a side with a fantastic manager and a great squad available, so there's no doubt they would back themselves going into this game.

Team News

Managing injuries and player minutes has been a struggle for Arne Slot this season, but a positive update regarding Alexander Isak with his manager stating “He can play a part otherwise I wouldn't take him” with the striker being included in the squad to face the French champions. Alisson Becker will remain out until the latter parts of the season along with Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leoni and Wataru Endo also either not being available for the rest of the season or returning in May.

The first Leg will come too quick for both Bradley Barcola and Fabian Ruiz with Barcola who could return in time for the second leg, with both players being a big miss for their side.

Key Players and Tactical Overview

Liverpool’s standout player this season has to be Dominick Szoboszlai, with him being the most reliable consistent performer, whilst showing up in big games. Don’t discredit the work that Alexander Isak could do off the bench either, with the Swede being back available after his injury sustained in the 1-2 win in December over Tottenham.

Any PSG player could cause problems in all honesty, and picking one player would be a disservice to the rest of their squad. Desire Doue and Kvaratskhelia will be massive threats along with Ballon D'or winner Ousmane Dembélé.

Liverpool have to keep it tight at the back and have to sustain attacks, trying to keep Dembele and co quiet for 90 minutes. It will be a task, especially with both teams being on opposite sides of confidence levels. A reaction needs to be had after the performance at the Etihad on Sunday.

Head-To-Head

These 2 teams have only played each other 4 times this century, with both clubs winning 2 each, winning one home and one away respectively. Most recently, last season’s Round of 16 was the last time they faced off with PSG winning on penalties after a 1-1 scoreline on aggregate

Predicted XI’s

Liverpool: Mamardashvili, Kerkez, Van Dijk, Konate, Gomez, Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Wirtz, Szoboszlai, Ekitike, Salah.

PSG: Safonov, Mendes, Pacho, Marquinhos, Hakimi, Vitinha, Neves, Zaire-Emery, Kvaratskhelia, Dembélé, Doué.
