Wolves vs. Liverpool: The Big Match Preview

Here we go again. Just 72 hours after a damaging league defeat to bottom-placed Wolves, Liverpool are heading back to Molineux with a point to prove. The last trip was flat, frustrating, and potentially costly in the race for next season’s Champions League. Now the Reds get an immediate shot at redemption.

Match Preview

The good news is that Liverpool travel back to the West Midlands with a positive: Jeremie Frimpong was able to play 72 minutes, so appears to have overcome his injury entirely.

Elsewhere, Salah scored his first goal in 15 games, so has hopefully got that milestone from around his neck. Finally, once again, Rio Ngumoha was the best Liverpool player on the pitch when he came on with twenty-five minutes to go, so you'd hope - expect? - to see him start.

For Wolves, they wouldn't want to change anything from the last outing. They were able to restrict Liverpool to rushed, almost anxious, shots from range. With Arne Slot seemingly unwilling to rotate his squad, Wolves' manager Rob Edwards will want his men to do exactly the same.

The small silver lining for Liverpool is that Wolves may have bigger priorities on their mind. Tuesday’s win moved them to within 12 points of safety, and while survival still looks a long shot, they do face the four teams directly above them before the season ends. So, enough reason to keep pushing for wins in the league.

With the league now fast becoming a ‘’dud’, the Reds must go on a strong run in the cup and in Europe has become essential to salvage the season (and arguably, Slot's job).

Team News

Florian Wirtz is reportedly still suffering with a back issue. Frimpong is back to full fitness. So, he should start again tomorrow. Isak, Leoni, Endo, Bradley, and Bajcetic continue to be unavailable after picking up long-term injuries earlier in the season.

Wolves are in a similar situation, with no new injuries coming from the match, so expect an unchanged line up.

Predicted XI

Wolves: Sá, Doherty, Bueno, Krejcí, Tchatchoua, Mané, André, João Gomes, Wolfe, Gomes, Armstrong.

Liverpool: Allison, Frimpong, Konate, Van Dijk, Kerkez, Jones, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Salah, Ngumoha, Ekitike

Score Prediction

Wolves 0-2 Liverpool

Wolves did it once, surely, they can't do it again...right? Liverpool haven't been convincing enough, but it's a safer bet to make that the Reds will get their revenge in the Cup competition to get to the next round.
