Despite seemingly leaving Liverpool at the end of last season, Mohamed Salah's ultimate destination remains uncertain - including remaining at the club to see out the rest of his contract.

According to his Egyptian teammate, goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy, Salah is even contemplating to stay at the club. In the recent conversation with the Egyptian media, ON Sport, he said

"The prospect of leaving Liverpool has affected Mo psychologically, but the situation might change and he could still stay with the team. He even told me that he doesn't know anything about his future yet.”

Having announced in March that he planned to leave Liverpool at the end of the season, there has been no announcement on his likely destination. Although given his likely wage demands, the MLS or the Saudi Pro League appears the most likely.

However, with the lack of any news, speculation has begun to build that disagreements with former Liverpool manager Arne Slot was the main catalyst for the 257-goal winger to walk away from his lucrative £250,000 a week contract.

Well, it's not surprising, considering they had a very public spat in December. It resulted in Salah being dropped before going to the African Cup of Nations, and social media post deriding Liverpool's current playing style and called for a return to ‘heavy metal’ football.

But Salah's agent was quick to make a statement denying that leaving had affected Salah in any way, stating on X:

“Mohamed is doing perfectly fine and neither he nor I prefer to discuss sensitive plans with people not involved in them. Both he and I are very private about these things. Yes, people may ask and they may get a standard polite response but that’s about it.”

Indeed, for the club’s part, there appears to be a concerted effort to move on from Mo Salah, and they are keen on several targets, notably Yan Diomande at RB Leipzig, and Bradley Barcola at PSG - both of whom can play on the Right Wing.

That's not to mention Rio Ngumoha, with rumours that Bayern Munich are interested in the 17-year-old. Liverpool were quick to deny any contact between the two clubs, reaffirming that Ngumoha was an important member of the first team and would be looked to build a team around him in the future.

So, as it stands, the future of Mohamed Salah remains a mystery, probably until the end of the World Cup. What does appear clear is that, despite speculation, Salah's time at Anfield is indeed over, with both parties keen to write their next chapter.
