Arne Slot discusses injury setbacks, finishing concerns and the challenge of facing Manchester United ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

Mohamed Salah setback but boost for run-in

The Liverpool manager confirmed Mohamed Salah will miss the game, with what he described as a minor injury. However, he admitted that he expects the forward to return before the season concludes.
“It is a big relief that his injury is minor,” Arne Slot said. “He will be able to play for us again and also at the World Cup.”
The Dutchman also hinted at the significance of the player’s long-term contribution, adding that the Egyptian would merit a major send-off when the time comes.

Squad availability remains a major issue

Injuries continue to disrupt Liverpool’s rhythm, according to the manager, with him describing the current situation as “extreme”.
“This team is capable of much more,” he explained. “But it would help if everyone was available once in a while, and that hasn’t been the case.”
The lack of continuity may have contributed towards Liverpool’s difficulties to build consistency across the campaign.

Performance levels must improve despite wins

Despite three consecutive victories, the manager admitted Liverpool have not been at their best.
“We can be at a much higher level,” he said. “In the last three games, we deserved to win, but we were also more lucky than we’ve been all season.”
He pointed to earlier matches where performances were stronger but results did not follow, suggesting a balance is still missing.

Florian Wirtz development offers encouragement

There was praise for Florian Wirtz, whose progress since arriving has impressed the Liverpool boss.
“The development he has made is clear,” said his manager. “He is already elite but can become even better.”
He also reminded the media that the club’s recent signings are at an age where further improvement is expected.

Finishing struggles , Alexander Isak and Allison return.

Arne Slot acknowledged that converting chances has been a persistent problem.
“One of the players we thought could score a lot for us, Alexander Isak, has hardly been available,” he said.
Arne Slot also provided an update on goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who is nearing a return but has yet to rejoin full team training.

Focus on Manchester United and Champions League objective

Turning to Sunday’s opponents, he stressed both the magnitude of the fixture and its implications for Liverpool’s season.
“It’s a very big game, not only because it’s Manchester United but also for Champions League qualification,” he said.
He reinforced this by saying “we know how important it is to qualify for the Champions League for any club but definitely for our club.”
