Liverpool have received a boost to their chase for a top four finish this season, with Alexander Isak seemingly imminent return to the squad.

The Swede, who joined Liverpool last Summer, following a prolonged transfer from Newcastle United, hasn't played since December after fracturing his leg on a match against Tottenham Hotspur.

However, his treatment and recovery has gone extremely well, with Arne Slot saying that he was ‘on the training pitch' at the end of February, and is likely to return at a crunch time for the club.

Goals are becoming hard to come by, certainly with Hugo Ekitike's early season form seemingly evaporating over the last few weeks. So to have a proven goal scorer available to play, with both Chelsea, Manchester United, and Aston Villa all still play the Reds before the end of the season, will play a crucial part in the run in, and all being well, Isak could also feature in the next round of the Champions League, taking place on the 7th April - the Swede's return to the squad could, and should, have a direct impact on whether Liverpool are able to retrieve something from this disastrous season.
