February, the shortest month of the year, brought four games for Liverpool, resulting in two wins and two losses. It was a positive month overall, with the Reds climbing off the bottom of the league and securing their place in the last eight of the FA Cup, showing signs of progress and resilience across all competitions.

February Begins With Frustration:

Liverpool began February with a 3-1 defeat toManchester United, remaining bottom of the league despite a spirited display. After a competitive first half, United proved too strong following the break. Lisa Naalsund opened the scoring in the 52nd minute, but Liverpool responded quickly through Alice Bergstrom, who levelled just seven minutes later to give the hosts hope. However, Naalsund struck again almost immediately to restore United’s advantage, and a late goal from Frida Rolfo in the 87th minute secured the points for the visitors. Liverpool were left at the foot of the table for another week.

Not Bottom Anymore:

A week after their defeat to United, Liverpool responded in emphatic fashion with a crucial 4-1 home victory overAston Villato climb off the bottom of the table. The Reds made a blistering start, racing into a two-goal lead inside the opening 15 minutes as Mia Enderby struck in the ninth minute before Martha Thomas doubled the advantage five minutes later. Villa pulled one back through Miri Taylor just before half-time to give the visitors hope, but Liverpool regained control after the break and never looked back. Captain Grace Fisk sealed the points late on, and Aurelie Csillag added a fourth deep into stoppage time to cap a dominant display and secure a vital three points that lifted the Reds up the table.

Chelsea Punish The Reds:

Liverpool suffered a frustrating 2-0 defeat toChelseaafter a bright start ultimately went unrewarded. The Reds began the afternoon on the front foot, taking the game to Chelsea and showing real attacking intent in the early stages, but they were unable to turn their positivity into a breakthrough. They were punished five minutes before half-time when Sjoeke Nusken broke the deadlock, shifting the momentum in Chelsea’s favour. Lauren James doubled the advantage in the 65th minute as the hosts took firm control of the contest. The result left Liverpool looking nervously over their shoulder in a tight relegation battle, sitting just one point clear ofLeicester City, who have a game in hand.

Into The Quarterfinals:

Liverpool booked their place in the last eight of the FA Cup with a dramatic 2-1 Merseyside derby victory overEverton. The Reds struck first in the 34th minute when Mia Enderby headed home from close range, setting the tone in a fiercely contested encounter. The defeats toManchester UnitedandChelseawere perhaps expected against strong opposition, but the Reds showed plenty of spirit and quality in every game. Their victories againstAston VillaandEvertondemonstrated their attacking threat and resilience, giving fans plenty to cheer. Now, with a long break due to the Asian Games, Liverpool will regroup and look ahead to the return of league action, starting with a home clash againstLeicester Cityon Sunday 15th March, followed by a trip toBrighton & Hove Albiona week later, and closing the month with another Merseyside derby away at Everton.
